a little about us
Call it the quintessential American story. Pete and Marika Vasilikos, immigrants from Greece, opened Pete’s in 1974 with little more than a desire to share their love of healthy and richly flavored foods. At their luncheonette in downtown Wilmington, they built a strong following for almost two decades by always offering superior quality at an affordable price – all with a smile and a true display of gratitude. Pete worked tirelessly to find the very best ingredients worthy of serving in a family meal. Sons Frank and Michael learned from their parents as they worked the counter and fine-tuned the family’s cheesesteak recipe for years. They always knew that their parents had struck aperfect balance for an eatery. Today, they’re continuing with the family legacy in coastal Delaware. Marika remains involved and, in her honor, Pete’s has expanded to include several favorite Greek offerings loved around the world, in addition to their signature cheesesteaks that are the best south of Philly.
